I'm thrilled to share a project that has been close to my heart for years: my Bass Trombone Concerto. This work is a celebration of the instrument's profound voice, blending cinematic textures with bold, expressive writing. I'm honored to collaborate with Ilan Morgenstern, Principal Bass Trombonist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, whose artistry has been instrumental in bringing this piece to life.
The concerto is being developed in three formats—full orchestra, wind ensemble, and fixed media—making it accessible for a variety of performance settings. The University of Michigan Concert Band is set to premiere the wind ensemble version in Fall 2025, with Ilan as the soloist.
This concerto is more than just a composition; it's a collaborative journey to expand the bass trombone repertoire and showcase its versatility. I invite you to be part of this exciting endeavor.
